thirst for knowledge

Yesterday I got a message from one of my old friend Patrick from Germany that he is here in Pakistan, this news made me happy and we decided to spend some time together over dinner. So we went for a traditional Pakistani food , Patrick as well as myself was  accompanied by two of our other Friends also.  During our dinning time we had a healthy discussion on various socio , political and macro economic and technological aspects of developments in various parts of the world. It was really a socializing as well as learning opportunity for all of us that we enjoyed together.

The most impressive thing that I observe as a point of differentiation between developing and developed world's new generation was the love for knowledge and the quality of information they have. During our discussion they pointed that the first thing they like about Islamabad was they found an excellent Book Bank (Saeed Book)  at Jinnah Supper Market, finding that book corner as a source of knowledge made them happy.  Their expression of this happiness  make me feel and think about that how far we are from this kind of culture, why we remained unable to embed this kind of values and culture into spirit of our nation as a whole, why our young boys and girls remain busy with facebook only and not really focusing on going beyond this, some thing that will be beneficial for the generations to come?  Pakistani youngsters  have the talent, resources and capacity to bring about a positive cultural change that is the need of the time , but we only are constraint by the "lack of thirst for knowledge".
